This year, we invite you to sharpen your wit and unsheathe your blade! Join us for a lavish feast, heavy and light combat tournaments, and a day of revelry befitting the finest fools of history.
Long ago, wandering scholars known as Goliards roamed Europe, wielding sharp tongues and sharper quills. These rebellious clerics thrived on satire, composing biting critiques of the Catholic Church’s power, wealth, and corruption. Though they had no home of their own, their irreverent spirit lives on in the College of St. Golias.
In the olden days, around New Year’s Eve, these jesters of the cloth would gather for the Feast of Fools. In a grand reversal of hierarchy, the lowest-ranking clergy were crowned Pope for a Day, presiding over absurd ceremonies filled with raucous laughter, bawdy songs, and good-natured debauchery. It was a celebration of misrule, a day to poke fun at authority and embrace the ridiculous.
This year, we invite you to sharpen your wit and unsheathe your blade as we bring this grand tradition into the Current Middle Ages! Join us for a lavish feast, heavy and light combat tournaments, and a day of revelry befitting the finest fools of history.
Come play the fool with us!
